  • Turf can be laid all year round, the ideal time to lay turf is during spring or early autumn when the weather is mild and there’s sufficient moisture for the turf to establish.

    • First Two Weeks: Water daily, focusing on joints to prevent drying, shrinkage, and weed growth.

    • Weeks 3 to 5: Reduce watering to 2 to 4 times a week, encouraging the roots to grow deeper.

    • Week 6 Onward: Water weekly, but increase frequency during dry weather, for up to 6 months.

    Each watering session should last 5 to 10 minutes per area to keep the soil beneath the turf moist. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot and encourage weeds and disease.

  • Your new lawn will likely require its first mow around 3 weeks after the turf is laid. To check if it’s ready, gently tug on the grass; if the turf lifts up, wait a few more days before testing again. If you end up with a handful of grass clippings, it’s the perfect time to mow.

    Mowing your lawn puts stress on both the grass blades and roots, so it requires time to recover after each mowing. While the ideal mowing height may slightly vary throughout the seasons, a general guideline is to never cut more than one-third of the grass blade’s height during each mowing. Cutting your grass too short exposes the lawn to more sunlight and heat, which can promote weed growth, especially in warmer months when weeds thrive on light.
